HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation & Oxygen Therapy

Participants attending this course will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to provide an emergency response and use specialised equipment for those in need of resuscitation, in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. Participants will also learn how to monitor and handover the casualty to medical professionals for further care, and how to maintain resuscitation and oxygen equipment

Course Information

Delivery

Courses are conducted onsite at each client’s preferred location or at a convenient training facility suitable to the organisations needs. Note: Minimum class sizes apply.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency.

PLEASE NOTE: HLTAID003 Provide first aid is not equivalent to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and can therefore not be used as a substitute for the pre-requisite requirement.

Course Duration

  • Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) full face to face course
  • Enhanced Delivery - Online Training 2.5 hours + face to face assessment 3.5 hours (minimum)

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Assessment Activities

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen
  • Complete an incident report
  • Maintain resuscitation equipment

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Certificate Renewal Requirements

Certificates will require renewal after 12 months


The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.
